Social Events

In addition to over 40 hours of dance workshops and four evening dances, the 2019 Emerald City Hoedown/26th annual IAGLCWDC Conventionwill feature a number of Social Events aimed at giving you the best hoedown experience possible.  We want to make sure you come away feeling not just that you have attended a great hoedown but that you have done so with great people in a great city… so you’ll want to come back again soon!

 THURSDAY, MAY 23

Welcome Social

The Hospitality Suite will be open from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Thursday afternoon.  Relax with some snacks, beverages, and reconnect with your friends before the dancing starts!   Registration packets will not be available at this time; you can pick them up at the main registration desk starting at 6:00 pm.

Women’s Meet and Greet

Join other female and female*-identified dancers in the 1st floor Lobby Bar from 5:30–7:00 pm on Thursday before the Trail-In Dance.  This is a trans*-inclusive event; if you feel that you should be at the Women’s Meet & Greet, we are happy to have you there.  No-host bar; food available to order.

After Hours

Close down the day — or keep the party going! — with some snacks and late night beverages in the Hospitality Suite.

 FRIDAY, MAY 24

Eye Openers

First thing in the morning, before any of the workshops start, the Hospitality Suite will be providing coffee, juice, and light morning munchies to get you going.

Wizard’s Reception (VIP Social)

A light meal and beverages will be provided in the Hospitality Suite for our “Friend of Dorothy” host sponsors, instructors, DJs, and other select VIPs on Friday from 5:00–7:00 pm.  Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available and ingredients labeled where possible.

After Hours

Close down the day — or keep the party going! — with some snacks and late night beverages in the Hospitality Suite.

 SATURDAY, MAY 25

Eye Openers

First thing in the morning, before any of the workshops start, the Hospitality Suite will be providing coffee, juice, and light morning munchies to get you going.

Men’s Social

The male and male*-identified dancers attending the hoedown get together to do what they do best — talk about dancing and eat!  Pulled pork sandwiches and Sloppy Joe’s, potato salad, chips, etc.  (This is a trans*-inclusive event; if you feel you belong at a male-oriented social, you are welcome.   There will be a women’s social later in the day.)

Women’s Social

On Saturday from 5:15–6:45 pm, the female and female*-identified dancers attending the hoedown get together to do what they do best — talk about dancing and eat!  Sandwich fixings, snacks, and beverages provided; vegetarian and gluten free options available.  This is a trans*-inclusive event; if you feel you belong at a female-oriented social, you are welcome.  (There is a men’s social earlier in the day.)

Brunch

A buffet brunch is included in your full-weekend registration.   Brunch and the IAGLCWDC general membership meeting will occur in the Courtyard Ballroom starting at 11:00 am.   (Sorry, folks: this is only included for those who register before online registration closes in mid-May; it will not be incluced for at-the-door registrations or as a separate purchase, since we need to get numbers to the hotel before the weekend starts.)

After Hours

The hoedown ain’t over until the last dancer sleeps!  Close down the day — or keep the party going! — with some snacks and late night beverages in the Hospitality Suite.

 MONDAY, MAY 27

One last round of morning greetings for y’all.  First thing in the morning, before you check out of the hotel or go touristing, the Hospitality Suite will be providing coffee, juice, and light morning munchies to get you going.
