Dance Teams and Other Performers

LGBTQ+ hoedowns have a long tradition of featuring dance team exhibitions during the evening dances, ranging from the early days of the San Francisco Saddletramps to modern show stoppers like the Manhattan Prairie Dogs, and of course, our hometown groups, the Rain City Rhythm Riders.  Hoedowns also sometimes see solo and single couple exhibitions, country singers, and more.

Would you like to perform at the Emerald City Hoedown this year?  Please contact us at info@emeralcityhoedown.com so that we can schedule your group.

Here are some of the things your need to plan for:

  • Each dance team or other dance performance is limited to a single exhibition slot of about 5 minutes, per night.  (We are happy to have you perform both Friday and Saturday nights, if you have multiple routines.)
  • Bring copies of your music on CD or a phone.  (As a backup, put a copy on a download location we can access if needed, too — Dropbox, for example.)  If providing music on a mobile phone, please have the device unlocked and the music pre-loaded so the DJ can just plug and play.
  • All entertainers must be registered for at least the evening dance they will perform at.  If you are a local group who will be coming to perform but won’t be staying later, we can make special registration arrangements for you.
  • We do not have a designted dressing room for entertainers.  Public bathrooms are available, or the hospitality suite can serve as a dressing room space for you, but it is on a different floor of the hotel; make arrangements in advance if this will be needed.
  • There will be a practice slot available in the main ballroom between the end of workshops and the beginning of the evening dance each night, or we can arrange such during lunch break times.  There may be hoedown staff and such present in the room during your practice slot, but the general public won’t be admitted.   If you need a staff DJ to assist you, be sure to arrange for that.
  • Performance times and order will be avaiable by the end of workshops each day.  Please be ready to perform at least 15 minutes prior to your assigned time.
  • All props (including anything thrown) must be removed from the dance floor at the end of the routine.  No glitter, confetti, or liquids, please.
